The Master of Arts in Christian Leadership degree program is designed to prepare students for personal and organizational leadership roles in a wide variety of church, parachurch, missions, and marketplace contexts.

The Master of Arts in Christian Studies degree program is designed to prepare students for effective service in a wide variety of Christian ministry settings.

As I haven’t had the chance to take other leadership courses at DTS that have required artifacts, I am sharing two artifacts I regularly use and update for my teaching and writing ministry:

1. My Substack (where I do most of my long form writing): https://joashpthomas.substack.com

2. My Website: https://www.joashpthomas.com

Reflective Statements

For my competence in MACL + MACS degrees, I am submitting my Substack and website, which demonstrate my competency in being able to recognize a unique need (justice theology in the Western Church) and in being able to build a platform of around 3000 email subscribers and 30,000 social media followers to benefit from the teaching and theological work I am engaged in.

As I developed and demonstrated cultural engagement, I learned that marketing is a whole other skill set that I can be informed on but not necessarily an expert in. This is why it’s important for me to surround myself with friends and family skilled in this area who can partner with me in their expertise so that I am as unencumbered as possible to thrive in mine.

As a result of the experiences documented by these artifacts, I will continue to develop in my teaching and writing ministry. I plan on doing this by writing many more books in partnership with my literary agent and publisher, while also growing my Substack and social media (with a special focus on Instagram) by producing content that is thoughtful, engaging, Jesus-centered, and nuanced - all so that our poor and oppressed neighbours can live the full lives that God always intended for them.
